Bee farming has for long been viewed as an “OLD farmers” activity with little indulgence of the youth and women.
With capacity building for players, youth are more likely to benefit from the industry at value chain stages involving honey processing, packaging, transportation, stocking, marketing and providing other services such as hive crafting.
From statistics,only about 20% of annual honey production potential (25,000 metric tons) is achieved in Kenya, leaving the full potential of 100,000 metric tons unrealized. Kenya is the third important producer of honey in Africa after Ethiopia and Tanzania.
About 91,000 persons are directly employed in beekeeping. This translates to a total number of about 547,440 people supported directly by the sub-sector.
With the correct information necessary to increase beekeeping output per in various counties of Kenya, reduce their unit cost of production and, therefore, significantly improve returns on their investment, we believe that the Kenyan youth today must be involved in all the stages of beekeeping activity or programs.
Jungle Honey Limited to this regard is seeking ways to support the growth of modern beekeeping in Kenya crop by using the extension services approach method, which we believe holds the key to improved productivity across the country.
The company seeks to partner and work with various stakeholders (organizations, Non-Profit, Well Wishers, Private Investors, Companies) including the Kenya Government, Youth & Farmer groups so as to achieve this noble cause of supporting beekeeping so as to enhance food security as well job creation to the dwindling job economy.
Bee keeping or honey production has many benefits including;

- Bee keeping plays a big role in crop yield through pollination plants, trees, fruits and crops.
